Hetty Howerton, PMA-CPT

I discovered Pilates in 2007 when years of running on asphalt lead to bursitis in my hip and I was instantly alienated from my usual routine.  Pilates offered me a way to rehab my hip while still getting the intense workout I craved. While my hip healed, I enjoyed being in the best shape of my life and exploring this new practice which continues to captivate me.

In 2009, my passion for Pilates led me to pursue the teacher training program offered by the local studio I practiced at, Fuerza Pilates. I was extremely dedicated and began apprentice teaching by the end of the year.  I received my national certification in 2014 through the PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) and began teaching private sessions out of my home. When I rather quickly outgrew the space, I began creating the dream that is The Studio.

I am dedicated to continuing my education and constantly striving to improve in my own practice and as an instructor. Movement is an integral part of every day for me. It is fun, stress-relieving, "me" time. And, it is my mission to share that joy with my clients.

Lisa McElroy, Balanced Body Pilates Instructor

I am a Colorado native with a background in Dance and Theatre. I trained in modern dance at both Colorado College and Pikes Peak Community College before joining my husband in a creative partnership running “The Open Egg Theatre” in Colorado Springs and then later in San Francisco. In 2009 I broke away on my own starting “Our Community Dance Company” a modern dance theatre company.

Over the years I have continued to study different forms of dance and have trained in both classical Indian temple dance and Flamenco. I was familiar with Pilates as part of my dance training and in 2009, after being diagnosed with Graves disease, I was reintroduced to the reformer as part of a rehabilitation plan. I know first hand the healing powers of Pilates.

After discovering Pilates barre classes I knew I had a new passion. It brings together the best of dance and Pilates. I am trained and certified as a Balanced Body Barre instructor and I recently completed the Balanced Body Comprehensive Teacher Training Program. I am delighted to bring my unique style to the Petaluma community. Balanced Body training combines the high energy, music driven fun of a group fitness class with the precision, alignment and emphasis on high quality movement found in classical Pilates. I am very excited to join the team at The Studio and help clients reach their goals with this amazing style of Pilates.

Breea Wilson, Certified Pilates Teachor

I began practicing Pilates in 2013 after suffering a shoulder and neck injury due to CrossFit. I had no idea how intense a Pilates workout could be! As I continued to actively rehab my shoulder with this gentle but effective workout for my entire body, I began to see the changes that I was after...strength, flexibility and mobility. I was hooked!

In 2016, I began the apprentice program at The Studio and completed the comprehensive Pilates teacher training in 2018.

My hope as an instructor is to inspire others. You don't need to have a certain body type to begin...or to advance. You just need faith in yourself. This is your journey and I look forward to helping you achieve your best.

Here is to a happy, healthy and strong you!
